I am a native Idahoan, born and raised in Grangeville, Idaho on the Camas Prairie in north central Idaho. I grew up hearing a lot of stories about this area, rich in western history. My grandparents were born before Idaho became a state in 1890 and established a ranch on the prairie in the early 1900s, buying land from the Nez Perce Indians.
In 1972 I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I have four grown children and presently share a comfortable home in San Jose with my husband, Bill Nipper. I worked for a number of years in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley.
Under my former name Pat Decker Kines I’ve written several books, short stories, and articles, including the book A Life Within a Life, a biography of Libbie Custer, wife of General George Armstrong Custer and a short story titled "Who Really Killed President Lincoln?" that is featured in the anthology Black Hats.
For the rest of my literary credits, look under the Books link on the main page of this web site.
Recently I’ve written a mystery titled Murder Under the Hair Dryer and am currently seeking an agent.
